Non-Twelve step Drug Treatment
Have you or a loved one tried several 12 step treatment programs and are now looking for a successful alternative drug rehab? We can help.
There has been a strong movement in recent years away from 12 step rehabs because they have been changed by modern medicine to incorporate medications instead of focusing on a drug-free life. These drugs that are prescribed (anything from antidepressants and antipsychotics to a range of relapse prevention drugs) often have very harmful side effects themselves and certainly don't allow someone to be completely drug-free.
There are a few alternative rehab programs that have a very good track record and history for helping people successfully and permanently overcome addiction.
Contact us today to find successful drug rehabs that are not based on the 12 step model. Fill out the form on this page or call us at 1-877-564-0228 now.
Why Not Twelve Steps?
In addition to the damaging drugs being prescribed in many traditional treatment centers, the philosphy of addiction and rehabilitation can be very unsettling for some addicts and their family members. Most 12 step programs believe that addiction is an incurable disease that one must spend a lifetime treating. The idea of rendering yourself powerless, taking it one day at a time, and that relapse is a part of recovery can make it seem hopeless to someone trying to battle addiction.
Many 12 step alternatives change this around and try to restore power to former addicts and take responsibility for themselves and their actions. People can be in control with the right help - it is not a hopeless lifeling illness that must be continually fought.
None of this is to say that the original 12 steps are bad in any way - because they are not. 12 Step programs have helped millions of people successfully recover over the last several decades. However, the overall success rate is still very low and millions of addicts are still searching for something that proves to be more effective.
For example, most rehabs don't do anything to handle the physical side of substance abuse - the damage done by the toxins themselves as well as the residues that can cause physical cravings for more drugs. Some alternative programs do address this through more natural means including nutritional supplements, exerices, extended body cleansing procedures, etc. Part of restoring someone to the way they were before ever taking drugs means to work on the condition of their body as well as their mind - and a successful rehab program will do this.
